Position Description

At the American Heart Association we're working to prevent, treat and defeat our nation's No. 1 killer, cardiovascular disease. Under the direction of the Caruth Grant Program Director, the Hospital Liaison will coordinate with Dallas County, Texas, hospital administrators, STEMI system coordinators, cardiologists, emergency room teams, and cath lab teams to implement consistent and improved treatment protocols for all heart attack patients during assessment, transport, and treatment. The Hospital Liaison will be responsible for helping hospitals sign on to the ACTION-GWTG Registry (the data collection tool that will be used for all 21 hospitals in the Caruth Grant); helping remove barriers to data collection and entry; and, ensuring compliance with the minimum data submission requirements. This position will also be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of continuing education and training for participating hospital personnel. The Hospital Liaison will work with the Caruth Grant Program Director and American Heart Association (AHA) leadership to achieve the AHA mission and Caruth Grant requirements. The Hospital Liaison will work under moderate supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This is a grant support position for a defined period of no more than thirty (30) months.

Experience:
RN or bachelors degree required; masters level healthcare experience preferred
Minimum of 5 years clinical or medical training and hospital experience required; emergency department, cardiology services, or cath lab experience preferred
Skill in the use of personal computer and software programs such as Word, Excel, and email
Skill in effective written and verbal communication
Skill in public speaking
Ability and willingness to travel daily in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex and work flexible hours
Demonstrated ability to productively participate in a multi-disciplinary team environment working towards common goals with internal and external clients
Hospital STEMI systems of care knowledge and/or experience preferred
Knowledge of cardiac data elements and management preferred
