Thomson Reuters has one of the largest property tax services organizations in the nation. We have a need for a Senior Manager in our Houston, TX office. In this exciting position you will help your clients reduce their property tax burden, whether it entails multi-million square foot distribution facilities in multiple states, a single apartment building, or an entire nuclear power plant. The Senior Manager, Property Tax Services is responsible for multiple clients in their chosen service offering with strong technical and communication skills in conjunction with promoting growth and profitability. Demonstrates financial management, human resource, business development, recruiting, client service, technical and business management skills, as well as leadership qualities.
Additional responsibilities include the following:
  • Demonstrates positive client relationships while providing quality, profitable service. No client service failures resulting in substantial liability to the organization.
  • Recognized service offering expertise in an industry/market segment. Practice views individual as a leader and a knowledgeable resource for their chosen service offering. Proficient with team building skills and provides leadership activities beyond client service (recruiting, mentoring, training, counseling, process improvements). Develops and retains staff and managers.
  • Service offering leader in developing new ideas and strategies for growth and profitability. High visibility in the marketplace and involved in targeting and closing sales. Responsible for a minimum of $750,000 of annual sales for new/retained business. Meets Thomson profitability goals. Assists in driving a marketing goal or initiative.
  • Leads in developing efficiency and management of large outsourcing engagements. Researches new and current property tax legislation. Identifies tax savings strategies. Develops in-depth industry valuation models.
  • Individual is accountable for building and maintaining specialist knowledge & industry expertise. Actively participates in a major trade organization by making speeches, writing articles, or participating on boards/committees.
  • Has complete responsibility for financial management on their engagements. Manages billed receivables under his/her name at 60 days or less. Meets or exceeds annual charge hour and/or process metrics. Demonstrates a complete knowledge of the economics of Thomson Tax & Accounting and the profitability of engagements.

Qualifications
  • Eight plus years of experience in progressively responsible personal property tax positions.
  • Leader in chosen property tax service offering
  • Bachelors Degree required with a preference in Real Estate, Accounting or Finance.
  • Supervisory Experience
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong knowledge of real and personal property tax laws of various state, local, and municipal jurisdictions are required.
  • Should hold one or more of the following professional certifications/accreditations: CPA, Licensed Attorney, MBA, MS in Real Estate or related program, CMI (Certified Member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation), PPS or CAE (Personal Property Specialist or Certified Assessment Evaluator issued by IAAO), MAI (Member of the Appraisal Institute), CREA (Certified Real Estate Appraiser), CAE (Certified Assessment Evaluator), ASA (American Society of Appraisers), CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), CRE (Counselor of Real Estate), CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member), PE (Professional Engineer), or Licensed Senior Property Tax Consultant (if primary work is performed in that market)
