Generac Power Systems Clean Energy, is seeking a Technical Support Developer. We are actively working to reduce global carbon emissions through the manufacturing and sale of renewable power backup systems. We are seeking like-minded people looking to apply their technology skills to that support this mission.


Our company has recently experienced explosive growth from its start-up origin, and we need to aggressively scale up our technology while continuing to drive innovation of consumer power electronics. We are growing extremely fast and looking to build strong brand recognition as the go-to home battery backup system with installers, homeowners, and grid operators by building reliable, robust, IoT systems with featureful cloud services.

This role is onsite in Reno, NV.

What will you do?

You will contribute to the triaging, automating, and debugging of cloud and mobile applications that support more sophisticated use for our energy solar and storage products.

Successful candidates will have strong technical skills and communication, as well as a belief that data-driven processes lead to great products. You will need to have a passion for quality and an ability to understand complex systems.

As part of this role, you will be required to:
  • Be the top-tier contact for customer support that is embedded within the engineering teams.
  • Provide technical customer support via database operations, running python scripts, calling API endpoints, and running our mobile applications in an emulator environment.
  • Troubleshoot the most challenging customer support issues by building deep domain and technical expertise. You won't be on your own though-you will also have support from the other engineering teams when needed.
  • Troubleshoot application errors, analyze monitoring dashboards and application log files.
  • Check data accuracy, write SQLs to verify data availability.
  • Resolve customer issues and triage/log into support portal.
  • Help reduce the number of manual operations required by automating the common support tasks. E.g. by writing python scripts or bash scripts, creating API endpoints, and/or adding new features to our React.js web application for customer support.
  • Manage the engineering customer support knowledge base-keep our troubleshooting and resolution documentation up to date.
  • This role is expected to take on additional responsibility of full-fledged developmental role over time.

Minimal Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 1+ years' experience with an API client (e.g. Postman).
  • 1+ years in a Support Engineer role interfacing with customer support.
  • Strong knowledge of any relational database, SQL and REST APIs
  • Knowledge of scripting languages/tools (Python, Bash, etc.)


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior software development experience in Java and JavaScript.
  • Experience with AWS.
  • Background in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to teamwork.
  • Sharp analytical abilities and proven design skills.
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
  • Proven leadership abilities in an engineering environment in driving operational excellence and best practices.
